Currently I only teach online. Lessons are conducted through Zoom. A link to our meeting session will be provided once payment is recieved and your booking is confirmed.

I will provide you with a zoom link for you to use to access our “meeting” once your lesson is confirmed. At the time of your lesson, click the link and I’ll begin the lesson. You’ll need to make sure your webcam and microphone are turned on through zoom, then we can start singing!
Online lessons work in a very similar way to in person lessons in terms of structure and lesson content. We’ll warm up, work on specific exercises and then practice your chosen song.
The only difference is, that due to lag, (a slight delay in the time it takes to transmit the audio from your device to mine) I will be unable to play the scales at the same time that you sing the exercise. Instead, I will demonstrate the exercise first, play the scale and then you will sing it back to me. (This is an excellent way to increase pitch accuracy, and practice ear training!)
When it comes time to practice your material, you’ll need to play your own backing track (preferably through a second device like a phone or tablet if possible.) This will let me hear you as clearly as possible and limit interference from lag or bandwith issues.
If you have any other questions or concerns about how online lessons work, please email me (info@samgibbinsvocalcoach.com) and we can discuss it further.

You will need:
A device such as PC, laptop, tablet etc that has access to an internet connection.
Zoom meeting software (Free to download.)
A stable wi-fi or ethernet connection.
A webcam.
A microphone. (The one built into your webcam or laptop is usually fine!)
Headphones or speakers.
A private space to conduct your lesson in.
I also recommend that you have a second device (such as your smartphone) available if possible on which to play backing tracks for when we practice material.

Absolutely! You don’t need to have had any previous experience. Every singer has to start somewhere and I would love to help you begin your singing journey.
-
We’ll spend a few minutes at the start of the lesson getting to know each other. I’ll ask about your goals and what you hope to achieve by taking singing lessons, then I’ll ask you to sing for me! I’ll take you through a few quick exercises so that I can assess your voice and get a better idea of how I can help you. After that, we’ll spend some time warming up your voice, and then move on to exercises that will strengthen and improve your voice specific to your goals and what I heard in my own assessment. Then we’ll spend the time we have left working through a song.
-
I recommend you bring some water to drink throughout your lesson, and that you also have a song that you would like to work on during the lesson.
-
This is a tricky one to answer, and will depend on several factors. It depends on individual goals, how often you choose to have lessons and perhaps most importantly how consistantly you practice.
-
That is entirely up to you! Some singers choose to have weekly or fortnightly lessons, others choose monthly sessions or “drop in” lessons as and when is needed. (For example to work on a particular song for an audition or performance.) It’s also going to depend on the complexity of your singing goals, and how quickly you would like to achieve them.
